Kingston hospital radio first broadcast was in 1967. Little is
known about the early days, although the original studio was housed in a vestry next to the chapel in a part of the hospital which has long since been demolished. Three of the four request collectors visited the wards every Monday afternoon to collect requests from the weekday programmes. By 1982 Kingston hospital radio was producing 24 hours of programmes each week.

In 1987 the 8 year old studio was showing signs of wear and tear so a new studio was built incorporating a mixing desk built in house by the station engineering team. The station moved in 1991 into a purpose built premises comprising of two well equipped studios and a production area housing our comprehensive record library. These were opened by auth Lynda La Plante in 1995. In 2001 we saw the arrival of computers in the studio this was an incredible boost for all concerned as we could immensely improve our service to patients. With the arrival of Patientline in 2002 the future of Kingston hospital radio has never looked brighter
